"Vir Chakra" and "Vayu Sena Medal"

Vir Chakra: Awarded for acts of gallantry in the presence of the enemy, whether on land, at sea or in the air. The decoration may be awarded posthumously.

Vayu Sena Medal: Awarded for such individual acts of exceptional devotion to duty or courage as have special significance for the Air Force. The decoration may be awarded posthumously.

Samar Seva Star: Awarded to all ranks of service personnel and militia and other lawfully constituted Armed Forces including civilians in all walks of life for operational service during Indo-Pakistan conflict of 1965.

(a) 10 days service during Indo-Pakistan conflict between 5 August 1965 and 25 January 1965 in a unit formation operating or located in the qualifying areas.
(b) 1 day's service in specified battle zones during specified period.
(c) 3 operational sorties or 5 operational flying hours(for personnel of Air Observation Post Units) or 3 operational flying hours(for others).

Pashchimi Star: Awarded to all personnel who participated in the Indo-Pakistan conflict of 1971 in and around the western borders of India on the ground, at sea or in the air. The minimum qualifying service is one day in the battle zone or one operational sortie or 10 days or one operational sortie or a total of 3 flying hours as members of crew in the qualifying areas during the specified period.

Sangram Medal: Awarded to all categories of personnel who were borne on the effective strength of the forces on 3 December 1971 to 20 December 1972(both days inclusive). The award may be made posthumously.

25th Independence Anniversary Medal: Awarded to personnel of the forces who were borne on the effective strength on 15 August 1972.

9 Years Long Service Medal: Awarded to all Armed Forces personnel serving in the Army, the Navy and the Air Force on completion of unblemished service of 9 years and more on the date of the issue of the Notification No.24 Press/71 dated 19 April 1971 or thereafter.
